How to observe Jaya Ekadashi fast (Jaya Ekadashi Vrat)
- Ekadashi fasting is related to the daily routine of three days. Devotees consume light food or only fruits at night on Dashami Tithi to ensure that there is no residual food left in the stomach the next day.
- On the day of Ekadashi, take bath before sunrise, wear clean clothes and keep a fast on fruits throughout the day. There is a tradition of night vigil in this fast.
- Next day, the fast is ended at an auspicious time after sunrise on Dwadashi date. Consumption of grains is prohibited during this fast.
Jaya Ekadashi Puja Method (Jaya Ekadashi Vidhi)
On the day of Jaya Ekadashi, anoint Shri Hari with sesame seeds in the morning. Apply yellow sandalwood to them and include yellow Kaner, Tulsi, gram flour laddus, yellow clothes etc. in the puja. Water should not be offered to Tulsi on this day. Listen to the story of Jaya Ekadashi by lighting a 14 faced lamp. After Aarti, donate food, clothes, shoes, milk, curd, ghee, sugar and sesame seeds as per your capacity. Chant the hymn, remembrance or mantra of Shri Hari in the afternoon and worship Lord Vishnu at night. On the day of Parana, break the Ekadashi fast before the end of Dwadashi Tithi. On this day too, break the fast by worshiping Shri Hari as per the rituals and after donating and eating satvik food.
